La Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, Bailliage du Viêt-Nam, is pleased to announce the promotion of M Ravi Chunilal to National Officer, Chargé de Missions. His previous rank was that of Chevalier.

The Chargé de Missions role is the first step on to the Board of Directors for la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Vietnam. All members of the board wear a gold medal and chain on a blue ribbon edged in gold braid. Active officers are a great asset to la Chaîne, and we look forward to awarding M Chunilal at our Chapitre event which will occur later this year at the JW Marriott Hanoi.

M Chunilal was born in 1981 in Hong Kong to a family of merchants originating from Gujrat, India. His entrepreneurial family consists of a prolific trading group with outposts in Fiji, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and now Vietnam.

Educated at the Taipei American School in Taiwan and then continuing his post-secondary at the Northeastern University in Boston, M Chunilal always had his eyes on running a company, but never felt pressured to work within his family’s group.

A few years after graduation, M Chunilal decided that the time was right to join the family business and started his duties by successfully helping his parents’ company to pivot from trading textiles to making readymade garments.

Today, a majority of the revenues come from supplying quality and fashionable apparel to large brands or retailers, but M Chunilal feels that demand will change and is currently developing the company’s business model to stay relevant and on top of growth opportunities.

M Chunilal moved to Vietnam in 2016 and transferred his Chaîne membership from Shanghai, China.

His first introduction into la Confrérie was in 2012 when a friend of his, M Michael Malik, then the General Manager of the JW Marriott Tomorrow Square in Shanghai, having known of M Chunilal and his cousin interest in gourmet dining experiences, M Michael Malik introduced the gentlemen to the existence and credo of la Chaîne, and the rest was history.

With la Chaîne, M Chunilal felt an instant connection. He cited that his ability to have high-quality curated dining experiences with like-minded people while enjoying and learning about new cuisines were all considered a great advantage over his past of researching and gambling on his lunches and dinners. As a result of la Chaîne, he has been introduced to a myriad of restaurants, hotels and the hospitality arts and he is richer for it.

Since last year, M Chunilal has taken an active role in helping plan events for la Chaîne in Vietnam and we are also much richer for his presence. We look forward to seeing M Chunilal at our upcoming dinners, tastings, and special events.

Vive la Chaîne!
