M Sjoerd Zwinkels
La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs would like to give a grand welcome to M Sjoerd Zwinkels, Principal for Mekong Capital, as Chevalier for la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. M Zwinkels has been a fervent supporter of la Chaîne and was inducted into the organization in August 2018.
M Zwinkels hails from the Netherlands where he graduated from Erasmus University in Rotterdam with a master’s degree in finance and investments. His graduation couldn’t have been better timed as the world was in the throes of a global sub-prime mortgage crisis and there was an absolute need for M Zwinkels to differentiate himself from his peers outside of the heavily contracted European market.
Through his internship in the Netherlands, Mr. Zwinkels was offered an internship in Johannesburg and another with Mekong Capital in Ho Chi Minh City. He opted for the latter and his initial plan was to only come to Vietnam for a short stint. We are pleased to say that M Zwinkels has remained in Vietnam, now for over a decade, citing how special Mekong Capital is.
An avid reader and audiophile, M Zwinkels has been known to moonlight as a DJ at pool parties and special events such as the annual Dutch King’s Day festivities.
When asked about joining la Chaîne, M Zwinkels likes to recount his many experiences with our venerable organization as simply irreplicable. He appreciates the dining experiences but also the Chaîne’s vision to improve the culinary and hospitality scene in Vietnam through camaraderie, promoting excellence, the development of young talent and in the provision of aid for those in need.
